Parliament just passed the Sugar Act, which is supposed to make collecting taxes in North America more efficient and raise the import tax on molasses. When Swallow hears about the Act, he sees an opportunity for a lucrative position as tax collector. On the other hand, he worries the tax might put colonial rum manufacturers (who distill the imported molasses into rum) out of business. Should he support the tax or oppose it?
don't support the tax. It might hurt the economy even more, and sets a dangerous precedent.
support the Tax. Taxes on trade are normal, and Parliament wouldn't pass it if it will seriously hurt the economy.
