About Stamp Act Newport
Stamp Act Newport is part of the Newport Historical Society’s commitment to commemorating the 250th anniversary of American Independence by interpreting the American Revolution in Newport through the stories of people who lived it and the choices they made during a time of great fear and uncertainty.

Stamp Act Newport was created by Katie Schinabeck, a Summer 2016 Burnham/Buchanan Fellow at the Newport Historical Society. As of 2025, Katie is the Digital Content Researcher & Producer for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

About the Newport Historical Society
Since 1854, the Newport Historical Society has collected and preserved artifacts, photographs, documents, publications, and genealogical records that relate to the history of Newport County. Our mission is to make these materials readily available for both research and enjoyment, and to act as a resource center for the education of the public about the history of Newport County, so that knowledge of the past may contribute to a fuller understanding of the present.
